Blacksmith Raises $66 Million at $1 Billion, Up From $550 Million Two Months Ago
Sequoia led the Series C for the CI-runner company, whose weekly jobs went from 5 million in January to more than 90 million. It has not disclosed revenue.
Blacksmith, a company that runs continuous integration jobs for software teams, raised a $66 million Series C led by Sequoia Capital at a $1 billion valuation, it announced on Wednesday, October 21. The round arrives about two months after a $45 million Series B at $550 million, TechCrunch reported, so the valuation rose 82% in that interval.
Co-founder and chief executive Aditya Jayaprakash wrote in the company's announcement that weekly CI jobs on the platform grew from 5 million to more than 90 million since January and that annual recurring revenue grew 17 times over the same stretch. Blacksmith did not state a revenue figure, so no revenue multiple can be calculated.
The rounds so far
| Round | Amount | Valuation |
|---|---|---|
| Series A | $10 million | $60 million |
| Series B | $45 million | $550 million |
| Series C | $66 million | $1 billion |
TechCrunch puts total funding at $125 million and dates the Series A to about a year ago. From $60 million to $1 billion is a 16.7-fold rise in valuation in roughly twelve months, against the 17-fold rise in ARR the company reports. Valuation, in other words, has tracked reported growth almost one for one, which is the opposite of the pattern where price runs ahead of the business.

The company's post names Premji Invest as a new investor and Peak XV Partners, GV and Y Combinator as returning ones. Isaiah Boone, a partner at Sequoia Capital, said in the press release: "What stood out to us was their deep systems expertise and speed of execution."
What the product is
Blacksmith calls itself a CI cloud. Customers bring their existing CI workloads, and Blacksmith runs them faster with minimal operational overhead, per its post. The post says it manages just under 10 MW of compute across US and European data centres and plans to grow that fivefold in 2027.
More than 10,000 companies use it, and the post names Mercury, Granola, Handshake and LangChain. It lists a free tier of 3,000 minutes a month; the page carries no plan prices.
The pitch is volume from AI coding tools. Jayaprakash wrote that "CI is the spikiest workload a company runs." TechCrunch quotes his post saying "most companies are struggling to keep up with the volume of CI they need to run," and adds: "As agents write more of the world's software, the question that matters is whether it can be trusted."
What is not known
The Series C is described as announced, and neither source says whether the money has closed in full. Weekly jobs measure activity, not income: the company has not said how many of those 90 million jobs come from paying accounts and how many from the free tier.
The round also follows the pattern in Mach9's $34 million Series A, another company with Y Combinator behind it that raised on rapid growth in a young category. At the top end, Legora's $550 million Series E shows how far the same sentiment extends.
Blacksmith plans to scale compute fivefold during 2027, which is the first figure against which its Series C proceeds can be measured.
