Privacy policy
Last updated 13 September 2026. This policy covers theterminal.space and is written to describe what actually happens on this site rather than to cover every theoretical case.
The short version
There are no accounts, no newsletter, no comments and no forms on this site, so we do not ask you for your name, your email address or anything else about you. What we do use is Google Analytics to count page views and Google AdSense to show advertising, and both of those set cookies and receive your IP address.
What is collected, and by whom
Google Analytics. Each page view sends the path, the page title and the full URL to Google Analytics, along with the IP address and user-agent that any web request carries. It is used to see which articles are read and where readers arrive from. It is not used to build a profile of you and we do not attempt to identify individuals.
Google AdSense. Advertising on this site is served by Google, which sets its own cookies and may use them to personalise the ads you see. Google’s use of advertising cookies is described in its own advertising policy, and you can turn personalisation off for your Google account at My Ad Center. Third parties may also serve ads through Google’s network and set their own cookies.
Your browser’s local storage. If you change the light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser under terminal-theme. It never leaves your device and no one but you can read it.
Hosting. The site runs on Google Cloud, which keeps standard server logs of requests, including IP addresses, for operational and security purposes.
What is not collected
No accounts, no sign-in, no email list, no comment system, no contact form, no payment details. We do not sell data, because we do not hold any data about you to sell. We run no tracking pixels beyond the Google products named above.
Cookies, and turning them off
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and Google AdSense. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a site, and doing so will not stop you reading anything here — nothing on this site depends on them. You can also install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on if you would rather not be counted at all.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or California
You have the right to ask what information relates to you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. Because this site holds no account and no identifiers of its own, most requests are really about data held by Google, and Google provides its own controls at My Account. Write to us at connect@theterminal.space and we will help with anything we can actually reach.
Children
This site is written for a professional and technical readership and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Links out
Every article links to its sources, and those sites have their own policies. A link is not an endorsement and we have no control over what another site does with your visit.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
Contact
Privacy questions, correction requests and takedown requests all go to connect@theterminal.space. See the contact page for what to include, and the A.I. disclosure for how the articles here are produced.
