A Week of Indian Startup Funding Totals $236 Million or $303 Million
Inc42 and Entrackr both covered Oct. 12 to 16, and the $67 million gap between them is larger than any single deal on Inc42's list, Boldfit's $41.8 million included.

Indian startups raised $236.2 million in the week of Oct. 12 to 16, according to Inc42's weekly tally. Entrackr counted $302.85 million for the same days. The two trackers agree on the shape of the week, a sharp rebound from the one before. They disagree on its size by $66.65 million, and on how big the rebound was.
Neither number is wrong in a way a reader can prove. They count different things, and the week's coverage shows where.
The two headline numbers
Inc42 said Indian new-age tech startups raised about $236.2 million across 25 deals, up 92.2 percent from about $122.9 million across 25 deals the week before. Entrackr said 28 startups raised $302.85 million, about 2.7 times the previous week's $113.35 million.
| Tracker | Oct. 12 to 16 | Deals | Prior week |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inc42 | $236.2 million | 25 | $122.9 million |
| Entrackr | $302.85 million | 28 | $113.35 million |
The prior weeks differ as well, by $9.55 million in the other direction, with Inc42 higher. That is why one tracker says funding rose 92 percent and the other says it rose roughly 167 percent, which is our arithmetic on Entrackr's two totals.
Where the $66.65 million goes
The largest single difference is a company. Entrackr lists Tessolve Semiconductor at $75 million from Vector Line Capital as the week's biggest deal. Inc42's table of top deals does not include it, and Inc42's own list bottoms out at MESA School with $11.4 million as its seventh deal. Tessolve alone is $8.35 million more than the whole gap, so Inc42 must also be counting something Entrackr leaves out. Neither publication says why it did or did not count the deal.
The deals both include match closely. RapidCanvas at $29 million, Scimplify at $25 million, Origin at $20 million and Confido Health at $12.5 million appear in both. We covered the first of those, RapidCanvas's Series B led by Vertex Ventures.
The largest consumer deal is reported differently. Inc42 gives Boldfit, a D2C fitness brand, $41.8 million in a Series B led by Bharat Value Fund. Entrackr says over ₹400 crore and gives no dollar figure, so the two cannot be reconciled without choosing an exchange rate, and neither names one.

Entrackr's own figures do not add up either
Entrackr's headline says 28 deals. Its breakdown lists eight growth-stage, 21 early-stage and one undisclosed, which is 30. Its stage breakdown, led by seed with 12 deals, pre-seed with five and Series A with four, totals fewer than the category breakdown. The report does not explain the difference.
Entrackr also lists Nat Habit at ₹142.6 crore, about $15 million, from Trident Growth Partners, and labels that round in progress. An in-progress round is announced, not closed, and a weekly total that includes it is counting money that may still be tranched. Inc42's seven-deal table does not carry it.
That matters because the report's comparison, 24 percent above an eight-week average of about $244.6 million across 24 deals, depends on the count. If the deal count moves, the average per deal moves with it.
What each tracker shows that the other does not
Inc42 reports the sector split. AI took $53.4 million across six deals, and RapidCanvas alone was 54.3 percent of it. Ecommerce was second at $48.3 million, then travel tech at $34.6 million, led by GreenCell Mobility's round from Impact Fund Denmark. Accel was the most active investor, backing four startups, and pre-seed and seed startups raised $25.9 million across 11 disclosed deals.
Entrackr reports geography. Bengaluru led with 19 deals, Hyderabad had three and Delhi-NCR two. By sector, ecommerce led with seven deals, ahead of AI with five and manufacturing with four. Seed was the most common stage.
The two sets of sector counts do not line up either. Inc42 reports sectors by amount and Entrackr by deal count, and Inc42's AI total covers six deals against Entrackr's five.

Below the top deals, Entrackr also lists Spill Games at $10.5 million in a Series A led by Elevation Capital and Clueso at $10 million from Dharana Capital. Inc42's table stops at seven rows, so a reader comparing the two lists will find those ten-million rounds only in Entrackr.
How to read a weekly total
One week is a thin sample for either tracker. Entrackr's eight-week average of $244.6 million sits between the two headline numbers, and a single $75 million deal moves a week by about 32 percent of Inc42's total. The sturdier comparison is each tracker against its own history, which is what our third-quarter comparison of Indian funding totals did for the quarter.
The next weekly reports from both will test it. Without Tessolve's $75 million, Entrackr's total would be $227.85 million, within $8.35 million of Inc42's, which would suggest the disagreement is one deal rather than a definition.
