Factory Triples to $5 Billion, Five Months After Its Last Round
The AI coding-agent startup raised $200 million from a syndicate that includes Blackstone and Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff as an angel, its third large check in under a year.

Factory raised $200 million at a $5 billion valuation, the company said Sept. 15, 2026, more than tripling the $1.5 billion valuation it set just five months earlier. The round is Factory's third large financing in under a year and pushes its total funding past $400 million since it was founded in 2023.
The announcement names the amount and the valuation directly rather than leaving either to be inferred, a contrast to rounds on this beat that disclose one number and withhold the other. Factory did not say how much revenue backs the new valuation.
How five months produced a tripled price tag
Factory closed a $150 million Series C in April 2026 at a $1.5 billion valuation, according to TechFundingNews, which reviewed the company's funding history. The new round, closed five months later, prices the company at more than three times that mark.
| Round | Amount | Valuation | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series C | $150 million | $1.5 billion | April 2026 |
| New round | $200 million | $5 billion | Sept. 15, 2026 |
The investor list combines institutional money with individual checks. Blackstone, Khosla Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Insight Partners, Evantic Capital, Sound Ventures, NEA, Mantis VC and Clearlake filled out the round, and three named individuals joined as angels: former Formula One champion Nico Rosberg, Altimeter Capital founder Brad Gerstner and Salesforce Chief Executive Marc Benioff, TechFundingNews reported.
What Factory actually sells
Factory builds what it calls Droids, AI agents it says write, test, review, document and deploy code across an engineering team's workflow, switching between underlying model providers including Anthropic's Claude and DeepSeek depending on the task, according to TechFundingNews. Factory's own announcement lists a separate feature, Factory Router, which the company says cuts token spending by more than 60 percent, a comparison Factory has published but that no outside party has independently verified.
The company was co-founded by chief executive Matan Grinberg, who left a physics doctoral program at the University of California, Berkeley after a cold email from Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire, and by Eno Reyes, TechFundingNews reported. Factory's own release names Nvidia, Blackstone, Royal Bank of Canada, Palo Alto Networks and Adobe as customers; TechFundingNews separately named Morgan Stanley and Ernst & Young among the company's enterprise clients, a set of names the two sources do not fully overlap on.
The number Factory did not put in the release
Factory's announcement describes its user base only as hundreds of thousands of developers at unnamed important businesses, a phrase that describes scale without counting it. Neither the release nor TechFundingNews's reporting states an annual revenue figure, a customer count, or what fraction of Factory's more than $400 million raised remains on its balance sheet. The pattern recurs across AI-native enterprise software funding rounds in 2026: a company like MIND priced its own Series B at roughly 30 times a disclosed revenue run rate, and Factory's investors are pricing a similar bet without Factory naming the number the multiple would be built on.
Factory said the new capital goes toward research, product and expanding its go-to-market team internationally. The next test is not the $5 billion figure itself but whether Factory's pace holds: three rounds in under a year is closer to the compressed financing cycle behind Gimlet Labs' own Series B than to a typical enterprise software company's timeline, and that pace only continues if the revenue Factory has not yet disclosed keeps up with it.
