BYD's 150,000th Commercial NEV Is a 600 kWh Q3 Semi With 325 km of Range
The Q3 has a smaller pack and half the range of the ETT 44 BYD showed in Hannover in September, and no price or market has been given for it.

BYD's 150,000th new-energy commercial vehicle is a Q3 battery-electric semi with a 600 kWh pack and a rated range of about 325 km, Electrek reported on Oct. 10.
Electrek's Jo Borrás reported that the truck came off the line at BYD's truck plant in Huai'an, in Jiangsu province, and described it as "the 150,000th new energy commercial vehicle to roll off the assembly line." The article gives no price, no customer and no market for the Q3.
The Q3's numbers
The pack is blade-style lithium iron phosphate (LFP), a chemistry that trades energy density for cost and cycle life. Power is 600 kW from two motors, which Electrek converts to about 800 hp. Gross combined weight is 108,000 lb, or roughly 49 metric tons by our conversion. BYD claims 20 to 80 percent charging in about 30 minutes through a dual-gun DC connection; Electrek reports that as BYD's figure and did not test it.
The range figure is the one to read carefully. About 325 km on 600 kWh is roughly 0.54 km per kWh, our arithmetic, and Electrek does not say what load or test cycle produced it.

The photograph shows a BYD electric bus, one of the commercial vehicle types that count toward the milestone, and not the Q3.
How it compares with the ETT 44
On Sept. 15, Gulf News reported that BYD unveiled the ETT 44, a 4x2 long-haul tractor for 44-tonne combinations, at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany. The two trucks target different jobs, and the specifications are not like for like.
| Spec | Q3 (Electrek) | ETT 44 (Gulf News) |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 600 kWh LFP | 651 kWh Blade |
| Rated power | 600 kW, about 800 hp | 743 PS, peak up to 1,000 PS |
| Range | About 325 km | Up to about 600 km |
| 20 to 80 percent charge | About 30 min, dual-gun DC | About 20 min on 1.5 MW; about 60 min on 420 kW CCS2 |

The ETT 44 carries 8.5 percent more battery (651 kWh against 600 kWh) and claims 85 percent more range. Both figures are BYD's, and Gulf News notes that real range depends on payload, weather, road conditions and driving style. The gap says the two figures were measured under different assumptions, or that the trucks are tuned for different duty. The sources do not say which.
What the sales figures say
Electrek cites CnEVPost for BYD's NEV truck sales: 6,848 in September 2026, up 113.33 percent year on year, and 53,032 in the first nine months of 2026, up 28.46 percent from the same period of 2025. Those are sales of NEV trucks. The 150,000 milestone is a build count of all new-energy commercial vehicles at one plant, and the two numbers should not be set against each other.
BYD has not said when the Q3 will be delivered, to whom, or at what price. Gulf News reports no price or production start for the ETT 44 either, though BYD plans to sell fleets a bundle of truck, battery, charging, energy storage and financing, and to manufacture in Europe.
For BYD's passenger side, see our report on the new Seagull's pre-orders and 95 kW motor, and for another battery-logistics number, NIO's holiday battery swaps. The next figure to watch is BYD's October sales release, which will show whether September's 113 percent jump in NEV truck sales held.
