Urban Company Seeks ₹2,500 Crore as InstaHelp Loses ₹174 Crore a Quarter
Snabbit logged ₹72 crore of net transaction value to InstaHelp's ₹71 crore in Q2 FY27, and the loss per order is the number to watch.
Urban Company's board approved a raise of up to ₹2,500 crore on October 16, 2026, to be set against the ₹174 crore it lost in one quarter on InstaHelp, its daily cleaning and housekeeping service, where Snabbit is matching it order for order.
The raise is authorised, not announced as closed. Entrackr reports that the board cleared a route through a qualified institutional placement (QIP), a preferential allotment or a private placement, with terms unset and shareholder approval still required. Inc42 adds that the menu includes warrants, fully convertible debentures and convertible preference shares, and that the money may also fund selective acquisitions.
What the ₹2,500 crore is measured against
Entrackr puts Urban Company's market capitalisation at ₹24,385 crore after shares closed 2.47% higher at ₹158.12 on October 16. The authorised ceiling is therefore about 10% of the company's market value, which is the dilution if all of it were sold as equity at that price. That is a ceiling, since the board has not said how much will be equity and how much a convertible.
The cash need is easier to size. Inc42 reports Q2 FY27 net loss of ₹182.5 crore, against ₹92.1 crore in Q1 and ₹59.3 crore in Q2 FY26, per Entrackr. At the Q2 pace, the raise covers roughly 14 quarters of loss, but the loss is not meant to hold still. The company targets adjusted EBITDA breakeven by Q3 FY28, according to Inc42, and ₹1,000 crore of adjusted EBITDA by FY31.
| Metric | Q2 FY27 | Comparison | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net loss | ₹182.5 crore | ₹92.1 crore in Q1 FY27 | Inc42 |
| Operating revenue | ₹527 crore | ₹380 crore in Q2 FY26 | Entrackr |
| Operating revenue | ₹537.29 crore | ₹528.3 crore in Q1 FY27 | Inc42 |
| Adjusted EBITDA loss | ₹144 crore | InstaHelp loss ₹174 crore | Inc42 |
Two revenue figures, one quarter
The outlets disagree on revenue. Entrackr gives ₹527 crore for Q2 FY27 and Inc42 gives ₹537.29 crore. Both say growth was 41%, and only one figure fits. ₹527 crore against ₹380 crore is 38.7% growth; ₹537.29 crore against ₹380 crore is 41.4%. The arithmetic favours Inc42, but neither outlet's number could be checked against the exchange filing here, so both are shown.
Inc42 says the group's adjusted EBITDA loss was ₹144 crore while InstaHelp alone consumed ₹174 crore. The difference, ₹30 crore, implies the rest of the group made an adjusted profit in the quarter. Entrackr supports that reading, reporting that India consumer services excluding InstaHelp, at ₹336.4 crore of revenue, remained EBITDA-profitable.
InstaHelp against Snabbit: ₹71 crore and ₹72 crore
Entrackr's comparison is the sharpest data point in the story. Snabbit posted net transaction value (NTV) of ₹72 crore in Q2 FY27 on 6.4 million orders. InstaHelp posted ₹71 crore on 6.2 million orders. Snabbit's co-founder Ayush Agarwal put its burn at ₹142 crore in a LinkedIn post, per Entrackr, against InstaHelp's ₹174 crore adjusted EBITDA loss.

Entrackr cautions that burn figures may not be comparable unless they use the same accounting measure. Taken at face value, InstaHelp lost about ₹279 per order, which is the figure Entrackr gives, and Snabbit's ₹142 crore over 6.4 million orders works out to about ₹222. That is the author's division, not a reported number.
InstaHelp's unit economics are moving, and in an uncomfortable direction on price. NTV per order fell to ₹114 from ₹138 in Q1, which Entrackr attributes to competition and introductory prices for new users. Loss per order improved to ₹279 from ₹346. Revenue was ₹20.37 crore, up 82% from Q1, or about ₹33 per order, so the loss is roughly 8.5 times the revenue it produced.
Who is not in the numbers
Pronto, the third rival named by both outlets, has no figures in either report. Snabbit's last full-year numbers are for FY26: operating revenue of ₹12.25 crore and a net loss of ₹168 crore, with daily jobs up 75 times, according to Entrackr. A fund that wanted to compare the two companies on audited figures has only that single Snabbit year, and none for Pronto.
The group itself is still growing outside the cleaning bet. Entrackr reports Native brands revenue of ₹105.4 crore, up 40%, and international revenue of ₹75 crore, up 82%. The board also gave in-principle approval to explore residential air conditioners under the Native brand, Inc42 says, subject to a final board decision.
What would confirm or contradict the plan
Two events decide whether this is a bridge or a war chest. The first is the shareholder approval and the QIP's size and price, which will show how much equity the market takes at roughly ₹158. The second is Q3 FY27 results: if InstaHelp's loss per order keeps falling from ₹279 while NTV per order stays near ₹114, the breakeven target for Q3 FY28 is plausible. If NTV per order falls again, the raise is funding discounts.
