Numeracle Raises $28 Million From Edison Alone, 80% of All Capital It Has Taken Since 2018, With No Valuation Given
The spam-label verification company, profitable in 2026 per Crunchbase News, gives a 70% recurring-revenue growth rate but no base, so the round cannot be priced.
Numeracle, a McLean, Virginia company that verifies businesses so carriers stop labelling their calls as spam, announced $28 million from Edison Partners on October 28. Crunchbase News, which ran it as an exclusive, says Edison was the only investor in the round and that the company declined to give a valuation.
That wording matters. The company's own release, carried by Telecom Reseller, calls it a growth investment led by Edison, while Runtime Wire's account does not say whether Edison led. A sole investor takes the whole round, and with no syndicate there is no second firm's price to check the first against.
The capital arithmetic
Crunchbase News puts Numeracle's total funding since its 2018 founding at $34.8 million. Its previous round was a $6.8 million Series A in December 2023. So the $28 million is 80% of every dollar the company has raised, and 4.1 times the Series A. Neither account names who backed the Series A, so whether those investors took up their share cannot be checked.
- Series A, December 20236.8 $ million
- Edison Partners round, October 202628 $ million

What the company supplied and what it did not
Numeracle's release says annual recurring revenue rose 70% year over year and that more than 4,000 enterprise brands use it. Crunchbase News says about 4,000 business customers. Both are company figures. No revenue is disclosed, so 70% is a rate with no base, and a multiple cannot be computed. Crunchbase News adds that Numeracle became profitable in 2026, sooner than founder Rebekah Johnson expected, and employs about 85 people. The round works out to about $329,000 of new capital per employee.
| Detail | Crunchbase News | Company release |
|---|---|---|
| Edison's role | Only investor | Lead investor |
| Healthcare | A planned focus | Listed among current industries |
| Customer count | About 4,000 | More than 4,000 |
The healthcare line is a real discrepancy: one account treats the sector as a future push and the other as an existing market. Crunchbase News lists financial services, home services, higher education, government organisations and charities as current customers.
How it earns and what the money is for
Customers pay an annual subscription plus a per-call fee to display a business name, logo and reason for calling, per Crunchbase News. Numeracle shares verified data with carriers' call-screening systems so legitimate calls are not mislabelled. The money goes to hiring, expansion abroad, with Europe mentioned, and extending verification to messaging, chat apps, marketplaces and AI agents.
Johnson, the founder and chief executive and a former telecom regulatory compliance engineer, is quoted in the release: "We built Entity Identity Management because fraud and impersonation are not fundamentally communications problems." Lenard Marcus, general partner at Edison Partners, called it "a compelling investment for us."
For comparison with other recent rounds on this site, Hex disclosed a $1.2 billion valuation and Re:Build's $2.1 billion came without one, as Numeracle's did. The figure to wait for is revenue: until the company discloses a base for its 70% growth, or a later financing prices it, the defensible statement is that Edison put $28 million in at an undisclosed price.
