Mecka AI's $60 Million Series B From Sequoia Matches the Figure It Announced in June
The robot-training data startup has not disclosed a valuation, customers or revenue, and its only public revenue number is a projection.

Mecka AI said it raised a $60 million Series B led by Sequoia, with Nvidia and Microsoft's venture fund M12 taking part, TechCrunch reported on Wednesday. The same dollar figure was attached to the company four months earlier, and none of the accounts we could read explains how the two relate.
TechCrunch's article does not state a valuation. TechCrunch had reported in September that the company was nearing a round at about $500 million, led by Sequoia, a figure that was a proposed price and not a closed deal.
Two rounds with one number
On June 2, Pulse 2 reported that Mecka had raised $60 million to build what it called the data and deployment layer for physical A.I. That article names no lead investor. A separate account, published by Runtime Wire on Sept. 11, says the earlier $60 million came in two financings led by Framework Ventures: a $25 million Series A that closed in November 2025 and a $35 million follow-on, with Menlo Ventures, SV Angel and Kindred Ventures also taking part. Runtime Wire cites Fortune's June 1 report for those details, and we did not read the Fortune piece.
- Series A, Nov. 202525 $ million
- Follow-on, by June 202635 $ million
- Series B, Oct. 202660 $ million

If the Series B is new money on top of the earlier $60 million, Mecka has raised $120 million in about 11 months. If TechCrunch's figure restates the earlier raise under a new label, it has raised $60 million. TechCrunch's article treats it as a new round, and Mecka's own announcement is the document that would settle it.
What the valuation implies
If the reported $500 million were the pre-money figure, a $60 million round would give new investors about 10.7 percent. If it were post-money, they would hold 12 percent. TechCrunch's article confirms neither.
The only revenue figure comes from a projection. Runtime Wire says chief executive Josh Gao told Fortune the company expected a $100 million annual revenue run rate by the end of 2026, based on signed contracts. That is a forecast, not realised revenue, and customers and pricing were not disclosed. Against it, $500 million is five times the forecast. The company had about 40 employees when Runtime Wire wrote.

What Mecka sells
TechCrunch says Mecka was founded in 2024 and pays people to record themselves doing everyday tasks, such as making coffee or fixing cars, while wearing body sensors and using smartphones. The recordings are meant to train humanoid robots and other machines. The company wants to do for robotics what Scale AI, Mercor and Surge did for large language models, which is supply the human-generated data they learn from.
TechCrunch names two rivals. XDOF, another robot-data startup, was reported to be in talks for a Series B at a $1.2 billion valuation. Scale AI and Micro1, which began with language-model data, are also moving into robotics.
Demand for this data depends on how many robots get built. Boston Dynamics, for one, has a plan for 25,000 Atlas units with the first rollout not due until 2028. At $60 million, Mecka's round is small beside the field it sits in: 27 companies raised $1 billion or more in the third quarter.
The next checkable item is Mecka's own announcement, which should say whether $60 million is the Series B alone and what it values the company at.
