Matiks Raises $10 Million Pre-Series A From General Catalyst on 300,000 Daily Players
The Indian mental-maths game app grew daily users from 22,000 to over 300,000 in 2026. The round is labelled pre-Series A, and no valuation or revenue has been disclosed.
Matiks, an Indian social gaming app built around mental maths, puzzles and memory games, announced a $10 million pre-Series A round led by General Catalyst on Monday, October 26. Valuation and revenue were not disclosed, which leaves the daily-user count as the only yardstick for a round that is more than three times the company's last one.
Entrackr lists Ronnie Screwvala as a participant, along with existing investors Info Edge Ventures, Tanglin Venture Partners and Untitled Ventures. TechCrunch says the company has raised more than $13.5 million in total. The round is announced, and neither outlet says it is closed in tranches.
What 300,000 daily players is worth
TechCrunch reports that daily users grew from 22,000 earlier in 2026 to over 300,000 by September, and that monthly users reached 2.2 million. Entrackr says 2.2 million users played 48 million games in September, and describes the daily figure as more than double its June level.
The two accounts fit together only if most of the growth came late: 22,000 to 300,000 is a 13.6-fold rise, while "more than double since June" says the last quarter alone was at least a doubling. Neither outlet gives the month of the 22,000 reading.

By The Terminal's arithmetic, $10 million against 300,000 daily users is about $33 of new capital per daily player, and the $13.5 million raised in all is about $6 for each of the 2.2 million monthly users. Those ratios say how little of the round has to be justified by revenue today, not what the business earns.
The round against the last one
| Round | Date | Amount | Lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-Series A | August 2025 | $3.1 million | Tanglin Venture Partners |
| Pre-Series A | October 2026 | $10 million | General Catalyst |
Entrackr reports the August 2025 round at $3.1 million, led by Tanglin with Info Edge Ventures and angels including Aman Gupta, Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini. Calling a $10 million second round a pre-Series A is a labelling choice. It tells you the company expects to raise a conventional Series A later, and nothing about its terms.
Tanglin, Info Edge and Untitled Ventures all returned. That is the usual sign of a round that existing holders wanted more of, though the sources do not say how the $10 million was split between new and existing money.
What the app sells
TechCrunch says the app has Math, Puzzle, Memory and Logic categories, lets users play bots or real opponents, and awards points, streaks and quests. A subscription test began in October and unlocks game analysis, tips and practice. Users can also buy ways to skip challenges, hold a streak or boost XP. The TechCrunch writer played for over a week and found the app neither pushed purchases nor showed intrusive ads.
A second product, Jelo, is an experimental platform where users build games with AI and share them. TechCrunch lists Google's new Playground and Educaplay among its competitors. Most players are in India, with early traction in the United States, South Korea and Japan, and the company plans to localise for the latter two and to focus first on the United States.
The company has 41 full-time employees, and its founders are Sudhanshu Bhatia, Mohan Kumar and Sushant Timmapur, TechCrunch says. Bhatia told TechCrunch: "For the last 10 years, the platforms have made entertainment consumption easy, but much of it is brain slop." Rahul Humayan of General Catalyst said the team's "product taste and pace of iteration made it a no-brainer", citing encouraging signs for monetization.
What would confirm it
Indian listings are legally obliged to disclose more than this. Recent coverage of Tonbo Imaging's IPO listing shows how much more a filed company reveals, and Jio Platforms' record IPO is the other end of that scale. For Matiks the next observable evidence is a Registrar of Companies filing for the allotment, which would show the price at which General Catalyst bought in, and with it the valuation the sources do not give.
