Entrackr and Inc42 Put One Indian Startup Funding Week About $50 Million Apart, and One Page Omits Different's $48 Million Seed
The week of Oct. 19 fell 56 percent on one tracker and 22 percent on the other, because the two disagree on what the previous week held as well.
Indian startup funding for the week of Oct. 19 came to about $133.9 million on Entrackr's weekly report and more than $184 million on Inc42's. The two trackers read the same week, 15 deals against 17, and arrive at a gap of about $50 million.
The gap has a visible cause. Inc42 lists a $48 million seed round for Different, led by General Catalyst with Lightspeed Venture Partners, and a $15 million Series A for Firstwork. Neither company appears anywhere on Entrackr's page.
Two totals for Oct. 19 to Oct. 24
Entrackr covers Oct. 19 to Oct. 24 and counts $86.2 million across four growth-stage deals and $47.7 million across 10 early-stage deals, plus one undisclosed round. Inc42 covers Oct. 19 to Oct. 23.
| Tracker | Window | Week total | Deals |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entrackr | Oct. 19 to Oct. 24 | $133.9 million | 15 |
| Inc42 | Oct. 19 to Oct. 23 | $184 million plus | 17 |
The Different and Firstwork rounds add up to $63 million. That is more than the $50 million gap, so Entrackr must carry some deals Inc42 does not. One is Battery Smart, which Entrackr describes as a raise of close to Rs 100 crore from an existing investor and which does not appear in Inc42's table.

Why the week fell 56 percent on one page and 22 percent on the other
The trackers also disagree about the week before. Entrackr puts the prior week at $302.85 million across 30 startups, which makes Oct. 19 a drop of about 56 percent. Inc42 puts it at $236.2 million across 25 deals, a drop of 22 percent, with the deal count down 32 percent.
The prior-week figures differ by $66.65 million. A reader who sees only one headline learns either that funding halved or that it dipped. Neither page explains how it defines a deal or whether rupee-only rounds are converted into dollars. Entrackr gives Battery Smart only in rupees, and the page does not say whether that amount sits inside its $86.2 million growth-stage figure.
What the other outlets headline
The Economic Times' deals digest carries a headline putting the week at $246 million, down 27 percent on the year. YourStory's roundup, for Oct. 17 to 23, says in its headline that funding fell below $100 million. This site could not read the body of either page, so only the headlines are reported here.
That makes four public figures for one week, from under $100 million to $246 million. The $246 million is the only one framed against a year-earlier base.
What the shared deals show
The trackers agree on several rounds. Both list AuxoAI's $20.7 million Series A led by NTTVC, The Pant Project's Series B led by Mirae Asset Venture Investments, and CureBay's pre-Series C led by IvyCap Ventures. Both put Even Healthcare's $50 million Series B at the top, led by Khosla Ventures. The site has already reported that two outlets disagree on Even's revenue.
Inc42 adds that AI took $93.9 million across six deals, healthtech $60.6 million across two, and that seed-stage startups raised $51.4 million, about 28 percent of the total.
How to read the next weekly number
Until trackers publish a deal-by-deal reconciliation, a weekly total is a range, not a fact. The next test is the Oct. 26 to Oct. 31 week: if both trackers again diverge by more than 25 percent, the divergence is structural, not a one-off miss on a single seed round.
