Harvey Raises $550 Million at a $15.5 Billion Valuation
The legal AI startup's third price mark in under a year arrives without a revenue figure to check it against.
Harvey, the legal AI startup, raised $550 million at a $15.5 billion post-money valuation, the company said Sept. 9.
The round was led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with Sapphire Ventures and Whale Rock joining as new investors. Existing backers Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, a16z, Coatue, Conviction, Singapore's sovereign fund GIC and Goldman Sachs Alternatives also returned, according to Harvey's announcement and TechCrunch's reporting on the deal. Investors WNDR, Elad Gil, Evantic and Verified Capital also returned.
A third valuation in under a year
$15.5 billion is Harvey's third valuation marker since December 2025, when the company was priced at $8 billion. It reached $11 billion in March 2026, then $15.5 billion in September, a 41 percent jump over the March figure and nearly double where it stood nine months earlier. TechCrunch, which tracked the deal, counts it as Harvey's eighth priced round since the company's 2023 founding, with five of those completed since 2025.
What the money buys
Harvey said 80 percent of Am Law 100 firms and five Fortune 10 companies now use its software, and that the capital will fund hiring as it builds out Harvey Tenet, a legal-specific model the company made by post-training Kimi K3, an open-weight model whose parameters are downloadable rather than served only through a paid API, with help from inference provider Fireworks. The company also runs Harvey LAB, its own Legal Agent Benchmark, to score how the resulting model handles contract review and litigation research against the closed frontier models it previously relied on. Co-founders Winston Weinberg and Gabe Pereyra said in the announcement that "the opportunity for companies to accelerate their competitive advantage with AI has never been higher."
The number missing from the announcement
Neither Harvey's post nor TechCrunch's coverage of it names a revenue or annual-recurring-revenue figure alongside the round. Without one, the $15.5 billion price cannot be checked against a multiple the way a public company's stock can. The number that will travel from this announcement is also the one nobody outside the round can verify against sales.
Three rounds, three different paces
The chart below plots Harvey's last three markers. The gap between the first two was roughly three months; between the second and third, about six. A fourth round on the same six-month clock would put a new number on Harvey before next spring, faster than most law firms renew a software contract.

Harvey's pace is not unusual among the startups The Terminal tracked this week: Mach Industries' valuation jump to $3.7 billion and Positron AI's new funding mark both landed inside the same seven days. What is unusual is how little of Harvey's own numbers back up the price. The next test of that gap comes whenever a fourth round, or a revenue disclosure, arrives first.
