Harbinger's $240 Million Round Leaves FedEx Holding an Order, a Stake and a Board Seat
The truck maker disclosed no valuation, listed Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as placement agents, and gave no delivery figure for a $300 million order.
Harbinger announced a $240 million Series D on Nov. 5, a round 1.5 times the size of the $160 million Series C it raised a year earlier, and disclosed no valuation, neither pre-money nor post-money. The electric truck maker said its total funding now exceeds $650 million.
The round is described in a Harbinger press release as co-led by Tiger Global, Capricorn's Technology Impact Fund and Ridgeline, a defense-focused firm. TechCrunch credited Bloomberg News with first reporting the round and said Harbinger is reportedly weighing a public listing. The release says the company "raises" the money; it does not say the round has closed, so the defensible reading is that the money is committed.
- Series C (about Nov. 2025)160 $ million
- Series D (Nov. 5, 2026)240 $ million

Who is in the Series D
The release sorts the investors into groups, and the grouping is the most informative part of it.
| Group | Investors named in the release |
|---|---|
| Co-leads | Tiger Global, Capricorn's Technology Impact Fund, Ridgeline |
| Crossover | Fidelity Management & Research Company, Squarepoint Capital, Xantium |
| Returning | Maniv, Greycroft |
| Strategic | FedEx, THOR Industries (through TechNexus), BuildGroup |
Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are listed as placement agents. FedEx, which TechCrunch says led the Series C, is not among the three co-leads this time, though it invested again.
A customer that is also an investor and a director
FedEx ordered 2,000 all-electric Harbinger trucks valued at more than $300 million, which the release mentions and TechCrunch reported on Sept. 30. Divided out, that is at least $150,000 a truck, this site's arithmetic. Paul Melander, FedEx's senior vice president of safety and transportation, has joined Harbinger's board.

Neither source gives a production or delivery figure for the order. The release says only that proceeds will fund a continued ramp of medium-duty manufacturing capacity. Compare that with the Electrovaya order for 118 truck conversions, which this site reported as not yet binding: a customer order, on its own, is not revenue.
What the money is for
The release lists commercial vehicles, energy storage systems, power generation, autonomy software and defense applications. TechCrunch adds that Harbinger acquired the autonomy startup Phantom AI and has shown a driverless hybrid electric platform for the military.
The sources disagree on a basic fact. TechCrunch says the company was founded in 2022 by former employees of Canoo and QuantumScape; the release says it has raised its money since its founding in 2021.
Griffin Schroeder, a partner at Tiger Global, said in the release that "electrification has become one of the most pressing bottlenecks of the AI era." John Harris, Harbinger's co-founder and chief executive, said the company exists "to challenge what industry has learned to accept." Tesla's Cybertruck wind-down, reported on this site at 12% of planned volume, is the other recent case of a truck order book and a production plan parting ways.
Until a filing appears, the only revenue-side number public is the $300 million floor on the FedEx order, and neither source says when those trucks deliver.
