Ema's $77 Million Series B Skips the Valuation It Quadrupled
Creaegis led the round on a company that says revenue grew 50-fold in two years and bookings passed $150 million, without stating what either number implies for the price.

Ema raised $77 million in a Series B led by Creaegis, the Bengaluru venture firm, the company said Sept. 23. Accel, Section 32 and Prosus, all prior backers, increased their stakes, and the round brings Ema's total funding to $140 million since founder and chief executive Surojit Chatterjee started the company in 2023.
The multiple with no number attached
Creaegis and Ema both describe the round as more than quadrupling Ema's valuation from its previous round, but neither has said what that valuation actually is, according to TechCrunch's report. A multiple without its base is unfalsifiable: readers can check that four times a number is bigger than the number, and nothing else. Ema's prior round was a Series A that grew to $50 million by July 2024, led by Accel and Section 32, according to a PRWeb release at the time, which puts a floor under what "quadrupled" might mean without confirming it.
| Round | Date | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Series A (extended) | July 2024 | $50 million |
| Series B | Sept. 23, 2026 | $77 million |
Bookings past $150 million, not revenue
Ema's revenue bookings have surpassed $150 million, TechCrunch reported, a figure that includes multiyear contracts running two to three years. That number exceeds Ema's entire $140 million in venture funding, which sounds like validation until the distinction is made: a booking is a signed contract's total value, not cash collected in a single year, and a company can report a large bookings figure while its annualized revenue is a fraction of it. Ema also told TechCrunch its revenue grew 50-fold over the past two years, gross margins sit near 80 percent, and net dollar retention is approximately 180 percent, meaning existing customers are nearly doubling their spend on average. None of those percentages comes with the base-year dollar figure needed to check them independently.
One customer's numbers, and what they don't prove
Ema's own telling of its Wipro deployment is the most specific claim in the announcement: the system reaches more than 240,000 associates across 65 countries and handles 2.9 million employee queries a year, according to Ema's blog post announcing the round. Prakash Parthasarathy, managing partner and chief investment officer at Creaegis, said many agentic AI companies have compelling demos but few have proven they can deliver in production at enterprise scale. Chatterjee said many of Ema's customers are already moving to replace large software-as-a-service applications outright, rather than layering Ema on top of them, a claim Google's own AX orchestration launch ran into a version of this month when it promised billions of agents and demonstrated 250.
What Ema has not published is a customer-satisfaction or task-completion number for Wipro that an outside party verified, or Wipro's own account of the deployment. The Wipro figures, like the 50-fold revenue growth and the quadrupled valuation, come from Ema and its investor, not from an independent audit.
What would confirm the number
A venture round the scale of Impulse Space's $308 million raise eventually gets tested against a signed government contract or a public filing. Ema's test is smaller and slower: whether its named enterprise customers, beyond Wipro, confirm the scale of deployment Ema describes, and whether a future round finally states the valuation this one only multiplied.
