Ema Raises $77M Series B as Valuation Quadruples
Creaegis led the round, which brings Ema's total funding to $140 million while Wipro runs the startup's AI Employees across 240,000 workers in 65 countries.

Ema raised $77 million in a Series B round led by Creaegis, the enterprise AI startup said Wednesday, with existing investors Accel, Section 32 and Prosus all increasing their stakes. The round, structured entirely as primary equity with no debt or secondary sales, brings Ema's total funding to $140 million and more than quadruples its valuation from a 2024 round, Ema said in its announcement. It did not disclose the new figure.
Ema sells what it calls AI Employees, bundles of agents built to complete multi-step HR, IT and finance work inside the software a company already runs, rather than a chat assistant bolted on top of it. Founder and chief executive Surojit Chatterjee, a former Google and Coinbase executive, started the company in 2023 with co-founder Souvik Sen, a former Okta executive.
What Ema's Series B funds: a 240,000-employee Wipro deployment
Ema's own figures point to Wipro as its reference customer. The IT services firm has rolled Ema's AI Employees out to more than 240,000 associates across 65 countries, according to the Series B announcement, automating more than 100 workflows and fielding roughly 2.9 million employee queries a year. Response times fell from days to seconds, Ema said, and an internal satisfaction score rose 20 percent.
Those numbers come from Ema, not from Wipro. The announcement does not name a Wipro executive or link to any statement in which Wipro confirms the figures itself.
Investors say the metrics justify the multiple
TechCrunch, which reviewed the round separately, reported that Ema's revenue bookings have surpassed $150 million in multiyear contracts, up 50-fold over the past two years, with gross margins near 80 percent and net dollar retention around 180 percent.
| Metric (as disclosed) | Figure |
|---|---|
| Total funding to date | $140 million |
| Revenue bookings, multiyear contracts | $150 million-plus |
| Revenue growth, past two years | 50x |
| Active enterprise users | 1 million-plus |
The startup counts more than 50 active enterprise deals and upward of 5 million agent actions and queries handled, TechCrunch said, with customers including Google, Microsoft, ADP, PwC, KPMG and Hitachi using the platform beyond Wipro. Ema plans to put the new capital toward its go-to-market team and an expansion into the Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions.
What Ema won't say
Ema has not published an error rate or an override rate for the AI Employees now executing live HR, IT and finance work inside customer companies, a disclosure gap it shares with Savvy Wealth, an AI-agent startup in wealth management that closed its own round this month without publishing comparable figures either. Nor has Ema named the 2024 valuation this week's round is said to quadruple, leaving outside observers able to judge the multiple but not the company's absolute worth.
The raise lands in a year when at least 114 Series A rounds of $100 million or more have already closed, more than 70 percent of them to AI startups. Ema's Series B is the same trend one stage later, financed entirely with new equity rather than the debt or secondary sales that have propped up some rival valuations. Whether the company discloses an actual dollar figure for that valuation, rather than a multiple of an unnamed baseline, is the detail to watch for at its next round.
