Mozilla Shuts Down Solo AI Website Builder; All Sites Deleted Nov. 30
The export ZIP leaves out image source files, Pro subscribers get prorated refunds from Oct. 1, and Mozilla points users to Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Bolt and Lovable.

Mozilla is closing Solo, its free AI website builder, and will delete every Solo website and all data on Nov. 30, 2026. Anyone who built a site there has to export it and find a new host before that date.
The terms are in Solo's shutdown FAQ, which says "All Solo websites and data will be deleted on November 30, 2026." The FAQ is undated. The announcement surfaced on Hacker News under the title "Mozilla shutting down Solo AI website creator".
What a Solo user has to do
Export is a menu item: log in, open Account Settings and choose "Download Website Data". The ZIP contains an HTML export and a CSV listing links to image assets, plus contact form and newsletter submissions.
The catch is in one line of the FAQ: "Image source files are not included in the ZIP". Every picture on a site has to be saved separately before the deadline, from links in the CSV, and uploaded again at the new host.
| Who | What the FAQ says | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Any site owner | Download website data, then save images separately | Nov. 30, 2026 |
| Paid Pro subscribers | Prorated refund for unused time, counted from Oct. 1, 2026, to the original payment method | Automatic |
| Solo Domains customers | Transfer to Name.com using an Account Code emailed to [email protected] | Before deletion |
Where Mozilla points people
The FAQ names five replacements: Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Bolt and Lovable. The FAQ summary fetched for this story lists no migration tool for any of them, only the HTML export.
Contact form and newsletter data comes out as a CSV. Anyone collecting sign-ups through Solo has until Nov. 30 to take that list elsewhere.
A short life
Mozilla announced Solo on Dec. 12, 2023 in a post by Raj Singh. The pitch was that "Solo helps the solopreneur generate their business website and provide them the basic tools to grow their business", and it cited claims that a third of businesses lack a website and that 39% of workers in the US are freelancers.
It kept shipping into 2025. Sören Hentzschel's Mozilla news site covered version 1.7 on April 14, 2025, which added an FAQ sidebar layout, a long-text article section and custom code in the head tag for custom domains. That post called Solo free to use, with costs only for custom domains.

What the sources do not say
None of the pages fetched gives a reason for the closure, a user count or the date Mozilla decided. The FAQ does not say why it chose Oct. 1 as the start of refund proration. The Hacker News thread was quick to compare it with Pocket and Firefox Send, two earlier Mozilla products that ended, but those are commenters' views, not Mozilla's.
The window is 59 days from Oct. 2 to Nov. 30. Small teams dealing with a platform deadline can compare it with Microsoft's WSL containers going generally available, where an admin allow-list decides what runs, and with Git 3's SHA-256 default, another change users did not choose. The date to hold is Nov. 30.
