Tenstorrent Raises $1.5 Billion at $6.2 Billion, a 2.4x Step Up With No Revenue Disclosed
The RISC-V chip company turned down takeover talks with Intel and Qualcomm; the round values it at more than double its 2024 mark, and the figures that would justify that are not public.
Tenstorrent, the RISC-V AI chip company run by Jim Keller, announced a $1.5 billion Series E on Oct. 19 at a $6.2 billion post-money valuation. Trace Capital and Innovation X led. The round is 24% of the valuation; the previous round, nearly $700 million in late 2024, was about 27% of a roughly $2.6 billion mark, per Dealroom (percentages are our arithmetic).
The round in numbers
| Item | Series D (late 2024) | Series E (Oct. 19, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Amount | Nearly $700 million | $1.5 billion |
| Valuation | About $2.6 billion | $6.2 billion post-money |
- Series D, late 20242.6 $ billion
- Series E, Oct. 20266.2 $ billion

The Next Web lists a longer set of participants than the two leads: Agostinelli Group, ARK Invest, Cadence Ventures, Eclipse, Fidelity, Maverick Silicon, Morgan Stanley, Protagonist, Sandisk, T. Rowe Price, Tether Investments, Virtu Financial and XTX Markets. Dealroom's list overlaps but is shorter, so the investor roster differs by source.
What the money is for
Per The Next Web, the funds go to deploying Galaxy servers at scale, which run open-weight models from language to video generation, and to the AI and CPU designs Tenstorrent licenses to chip makers including Samsung and LG. Dealroom says Galaxy servers have begun commercial shipments and that the money covers volume manufacturing and hiring. Tenstorrent has about 1,150 employees across Santa Clara, Austin, Toronto, Belgrade, Tokyo and Bangalore, according to The Next Web.
The company sells one architecture at every size, from a single card to superclusters. Keller's phrasing in The Next Web is "We built one architecture and sell it at every size." The Next Web describes Keller as the chip architect behind Apple's A4 and A5, AMD's Zen and Tesla's Full Self-Driving chip.
Why it did not sell
Bloomberg reported in May that Tenstorrent held takeover talks with companies including Intel and Qualcomm, and Keller told Bloomberg the company chose to raise money instead. He called a May demonstration of Galaxy servers running DeepSeek models a turning point. Dealroom quotes him saying that once the company could fundraise, show performance and start shipping, "the investor interest came in".
What is missing
The number that matters here is not the valuation but the denominator under it: revenue, units shipped and the price of a Galaxy server. Dealroom's page gives no revenue or customer figures, and The Next Web gives no Galaxy specifications or ship dates. A 2.4x step up with no disclosed sales is a bet on the architecture and on Keller, not on a trailing number.
Dealroom places the round among the larger raises in a 2026 run of AI-chip financing that includes Cerebras at $1 billion and Positron at $875 million on a $5 billion valuation. For the Cerebras side of that comparison, see our report on Kimi K3 on 59 wafers, and for the consumer end of the same silicon argument, the RTX 3090 BF16 kernel module.
What would change this read is a disclosed delivered-throughput figure for Galaxy at a named context length and precision, or a named customer with a purchase order size.
