GM's Equinox EV Fell More Than 90% in Q3, and Two Trackers Disagree on the Unit Count
Electrek counts 1,905 Equinox EVs and GM Authority counts 1,705; the two also differ by 3,938 on the Blazer EV, which changes how large Cadillac's share looks.

GM's Chevy Equinox EV sold roughly 1,900 units in the US in Q3 2026, down more than 90% from about 25,000 a year earlier, but the two outlets that published model-level counts do not agree on the exact figure.
Electrek reports 1,905 Equinox EVs, down 92%. GM Authority reports 1,705, down 93.2%. Neither source's count was checked against GM's own release for this report.
Where the two counts split
The Equinox gap is 200 units. The Blazer EV gap is 3,938.
| Model | Electrek | GM Authority |
|---|---|---|
| Equinox EV | 1,905 (-92%) | 1,705 (-93.2%) |
| Blazer EV | 5,199 (-84%) | 1,261 (-84.41%) |
| Bolt | 3,866 | 3,866 |
| Cadillac Lyriq | 3,617 (-50%) | 3,617 (-50.51%) |
Both Blazer numbers come with a decline of about 84%, which implies different year-ago bases. One of them is wrong, and the agreement on the Bolt and the Lyriq suggests the two draw on the same GM data, so the error looks like a transcription or a mix-up between models.

Cadillac's share depends on which Blazer you believe
Electrek lists Cadillac's electric SUVs as the Lyriq at 3,617, the Optiq at 4,550 (-6.9%), the Vistiq at 2,587 (-34.1%) and the Escalade IQ and IQL at 1,604 (-29%), a total of 12,358.
Adding Electrek's full list (Equinox 1,905, Blazer 5,199, Silverado EV 1,655, Hummer EV 1,423, Sierra EV 1,661, Bolt 3,866 and the four Cadillacs) gives 28,067, so Cadillac is 44%. Swapping in GM Authority's Equinox and Blazer figures gives 23,929, and Cadillac is 52%. That arithmetic is ours, covers only the models Electrek lists, and GM Authority does not publish a total.

The company line and the production plan
GM sold 670,974 vehicles in the US in the quarter, down 5.54%, per GM Authority. It quotes Duncan Aldred, President of GM North America: "Our business is performing very well, the launch of our next-generation full-size pickup trucks is on track, and we are making investments in new vehicles, innovative technologies, and our U.S. manufacturing footprint to drive our next phase of growth."
The statement as quoted does not mention electric vehicles.
Electrek reports the Equinox EV is still the leader through September with 18,154 units, down 65% from the same nine months of 2025. It also reports GM plans to cut Chevy Bolt production by about 75%, to roughly 35,000 units before production ends in Q1 2027.
The Bolt's 3,866 Q3 sales come with no decline figure in either source, and its production is already being cut. For the cost side of small-volume vehicle programmes, see our reports on Aptera's $25 million production estimate and Workhorse's 200-truck order.
The number to watch is the Q4 report, which will show whether the Equinox EV stays below 2,000 a quarter with the Bolt ramping down.
